An Unexpected Second Full-Time Job

Chose to pick a ground-up construction choosing my own options. All was fine during design process. Not many options or customizable IMO. The build process was a full-time job that I was not expecting. I was there 3-4x a week spending 30-45mins each visit to ensure the structural portion was built correctly. Pointed out many issues and received a ton of push back from the Field Manager. At one point, had to contact the Field Manager's Boss to get resolved. Should be in Love!

I should be “in love” with my new Pulte home, but I am not! I’ll start with my salesperson Dave. He was all about getting us to sign the contract, no matter what it took. Our contract was contingent on 2 things: 1) 4’ bump out on the master bed room & the sale of our old home. Even though we mentioned this to Dave several times if not 100 times, he did not add the sale of our home to the contract. This became a problem when Pulte set up closing. I am extremely sorry to write this review because it won’t be good. I waited - stalked - this location because it’s where I wanted to build my house. I was so excited to get in on the first release and to get my first choice on my lot. I drove by almost weekly when the house was being built. I was so excited to close on May 23, 2022! Prepare to be "sold" on the model homes they show you. Unfortunately, almost nothing resembles the quality of the model. Poor worksmanship plagues this company leading to constant warranty requests. Items that were listed on the documentation at closing will NEVER get done so be prepared to delay closing. During the building process, their management team is absent, has no idea what is going on, and will not work with the buyer, regardless of the reasonable offers to help with moving the build forward. Home is still incomplete after 2 months. Missing master shower, doors, and damaged cabinets. I’ve built 4 homes before. This experience is worst. $500,000 for low quality is inexcusable.

Things that were talked about at walk through have not been fixed. Field Manager is unresponsive or promises that someone will be out to fix it but never comes. I have contacted the national office who told me the local office needed to take care of it and I was just circled back to the same Field Manager. Terrible, no non-existent customer care.

Closing with items not finished

We closed with items not finished with their word they would be finished quickly. It’s been 2 months since closing and they still haven’t finished our master bedroom shower. Completely unacceptable and nobody from Pulte cares or wants to help get it finished.

There's a huge disconnect between Pulte and the contractors they hire to install and build the home. The small issues are taken care of in an average time frame, but the big issues, they dance around and make all the excuses in the world why they can't fix it.

Pulte picks such inefficient products to put in these new and costly homes. Items such as the hot water tank, garbage disposal, a/c, etc - they’re an appropriate size for an apartment, not $400k+ homes. It’s obnoxious to spend so much money on a new home only to have to deal with “below grade” products after the fact. It’s like pulling the wool over buyers eyes, who would ever think that a new home wouldn’t get the products sufficient enough to run their home? The workmanship is also sub-par. Quality of build wasn’t great. All bottoms of doors were chipped and not fixed before closing. Forgot to caulk to kitchen counter and the bathroom sink didn’t have a vanity. This is just a few things amongst a lot of other finishing touches.

After I moved in for a month the most feeling is disappointing. I have so much stress from this house. I have spent so much time cleaning this house when I moved in. They don't even clean it before I close this house. There are stains on the bathtub and shower that I still cannot remove. Every window is full of dust. The quality of this house is not ok. Jon the builder told us if we have any issues to call him directly. Everytime we get a survey we miraculously hear from him. We had a variety of issues the first 3 days and not only did he not return our phone calls but he referred us to the customer service line and they told us he needs to fix the plumbing and contact him. My wife is 7 months pregnant and imagine our surprise when we couldn't shower or use the bathroom because the plumbing wasn't working and there wasn't any hot water. Within a couple weeks moving into what I thought would be a quality home things are falling apart . There are many corners / walls in my home that are not even . Kitchen cabinets have fallen apart . Heater was defective and never tested properly . Plumbing was backed up . Cracks all over the exterior or the home . Cracks in the interior of my home around all the windows .
