Sales “agents” are not very knowledgeable or serviceable. Certainly not customer focused as they will simply sell the home to another buyer instead of working with purchaser. Sales agents speak about neighboring homeowners to other purchasers and are otherwise unprofessional. Punch lists still incomplete after sale (unsurprisingly, as this seems to be a common issue, but it is surprising how unwilling they are complete lists). Concrete steps and garage floor are concave and hold standing water. Upgrades installed poorly, excuse given was we designed “a complicated house”. Overall a disappointment, and a poor reflection of the company as a whole. Our independent inspector described the home perfectly: “you paid top dollar for grade A work, but received the bare minimum to pass inspection, grade C at best.” I’d advise to purchase your home from a company that cares, and avoid Century. ... I would avoid. Expensive house and Century wouldnt work on price on spec home with building issues. Supervisor rude to salesperson when discussing pricing. The worst part is the build quality is poor. Windows not level. Paint all over floor. Trash buried underneath sod. Missing items that we paid for. Construction supervisor does not hold construction people accountable. The most frustrating thing is construction supervisor is poor communicator and unresponsive. ... More

My experience with this builder was that I was often told things that were untrue and they were impossibly frustrating to get a hold of. When I agreed to purchase I was told I’d have a fenced in backyard and patio. I ended up with a balcony only. I was told one thing for the downstairs footprint, and reality was different - when I. Asked about it they said they weren’t going to change it to what I was told. They also changed my closing date 3 times after giving me an initial promised date. When I would try to get a hold of them to ask questions, they would not answer unless I physically showed up and caught them in person. The workmanship was fair, not great. I have several items in need of attention from warranty. ... More

Thank you for sharing- Although Century trying to set a concrete date for a closing sometimes weather and other things can affect that. As for communication you are correct. Hard to deal with warranty department and a lot of incomplete tasks inside and outside house, I do have an AC issue since day on my second floor, several complaints been made and Century don't assume to resolve the problem, since AC system wasn't designed properly to deliver the right amount of cooling and heating. Driveway problem almost impossible to drive in due a very sharp and deep edge which hit out cars tires badly every time. We made our home purchase based upon the lot. The entire process with Century was a struggle. This is a one year build. The original construction manager was replaced halfway and of course all of the agreements and understandings disappeared with him including the marked up preconstruction plans. Here is a not all inclusive list of some of the problems. Sod was just laid over rocky sand. No borders were placed between sod and landscaping. Roof is stick framed. Master shower drain was clogged with trash and unmentionables. AC was not properly charged. Jacuzzi tub was changed to plain tub. Sinks in Master Bath were shoved to the sides, so they moved the light fixtures. Entry bench was 1/2 the size of the model. Four months after closing we are still waiting for warranty work to be completed. Sales person we worked with is no longer with the company either. Paint spattered everywhere. Kitchen cabinets had to be replaced, we had to put our foot down on that one. Doors have uncommonly high gaps under them. Decorative railing is already showing signs of rust. We had to hire an independent home inspector to inspect the house there were so many things wrong with it. Responsiveness of the staff is very slow and in some cases argumentative. Finance department seems to want you to tie up the entire purchase price of the house or makes threats the entire time you are building the house. Was assured I could park my truck in the third car garage but it doesn't come close to fitting in the narrow doorway. However, at the end of the day we love our house. Just be prepared to micromanage the process. ... More

Love the style of home, but I continue to encounter issues around workmanship and poor follow up from the company. For instance, I Had a warranty issue and though I followed the online process per the builder, I never received a call from the warranty department to complete the process. I contacted the community warranty leader to get the job done. From the time I reported water damage to the time of completion of the issue and the aesthetics was well over a month, for an issue that could have been addressed in one day. No “crew” was onsite for more than 20 minutes to correct my problem. But Very frustrating to take lead on getting each crew out, as the lack of response from the warranty department was huge. After the initial call, I never heard from the department again. Overall, The paint job and quality of the building of this home was very poor and the crew that executed the work was unskilled and unprofessional. The theme that rings clear to me in this community is you get a bang for your buck, so the lack of quality is to be expected. Very disappointing. Pictures available and my home is always open if anyone cares to visit for confirmation of my claim. ... More

My new build was extremely delayed (5 months) which might be have been fine on its own if not for the poor communication. I was not given timely updates and was given timelines that were highly unrealistic based on the progress I could see on the house. I would send emails, texts, call and often not hear back for a week which was extremely frustrating as I needed updates in order to figure out my living situation and to work with my lender. They did not take into consideration any of the items identified in my independent inspection. They had me do my “final” walkthrough prior to toilets going in, washer and dryer in, and other things unfinished and I was not given another opportunity to point out things I wanted fixed after that point (i.e. they refused to touch up paint even those workers had been in for over a month after the walkthrough and caused dings). I’m still finding things that I just feel were rushed or not done right which is frustrating for how much I paid for a new home. I would not recommend Century to a friend. ... More

We could not make any changes and were misled on what was included with the home. Additionally the construction manager quit with no notice and left his employees to fix the issues he never addressed. The homes are being built way too fast with sloppy workmanship and poor quality building materials and appliances. Additionally the HOA dues cover snow removal but no one showed...residents had to clear the streets. I love the location but seriously disappointed in the quality. ... More

After living in the house for a few months, we found significant problems with the building quality and type of labor performed. It is apparent that building quality control checks were never accomplished; example: carpet/tile/evp installed on even flooring, baseboards not cut properly, cracking/separating of seals prior to season changes, dented/damaged appliances (stove, dishwasher) on install, etc. The builders had carved/grinded the shape of a penis on our front porch near the front door (we have a photo). A toilet was installed, used (vomit or diarrhea left on toilet seat) and was not cleaned up afterwards (I took a photo as well). There's more, but I'm not here to write a novel. It has been almost 6 months since move-in, and we still have outstanding walkthrough inspection items that have not been addressed (wall repairs). Due to the uneven flooring, we have not been able to fully move our furniture into the house (to avoid damage from tilting/leaning/etc). To their credit, Century Communities is working on getting the repairs addressed, but communication is slow, to almost non-existent. For a house price of about $480K, we could have gotten a better deal elsewhere. As of this review, we regret choosing Century Communities. ... More

My wife and I were extremely excited about our first home. We closed on our home on Dec 17th. On the day of closing we went to our new home to see if everything that was requested to be fixed was done. We walked in extremely disappointed. Nothing was done. Ryan said, that everyone was busy with the holidays coming up. Therefore, they were a little behind. My wife and I understood. We also run a business and holidays can make projects run behind. Ryan promised to get everything done within the next week or so. Our first baby was due on January 9th. So we figured everything would be done by then. It was not. We decided that it would be easier on my wife and our new born baby to wait to move in till everything was done. February came and our home was not finished. We didn’t understand why it was taking so long to get this done. Finally, we decided to move into our home because we didn’t know how long it was going to take to get things done. We got in contact with Mike and he was very nice and understood our frustration. He finished up everything that needed to be done. He texted us to keep us informed. Now that my wife and I have lived in our home for two months we have noticed that our wall down stairs in the entry is bubbled. I was told that there is a vent there and that is why it looks like that. Which I think is completely bs. Then, the wall in the kitchen moves when you lean on it. We tried to get that fixed but I guess it can’t be. Which sucks because our utility room is behind that wall and we can hear it moving. I really do appreciate Mike and his partner. They did a good job on finishing up our walkthrough list. They were also nice and very understanding. What sucks is that we had to wait over two months to get everything done because of that we couldn’t move into our home and on top of that have people working on the house with our new born baby. ... I purchased my home in September 2019. Century is now refusing to complete warranty work unless I remove my domestic partner from our home due to a few strongly worded emails he sent to the warranty manager after poor communication from Century as to when repairs would be made. I now have a damaged floor, damaged exterior column, cracked tiles in the master bath shower that remain in disrepair. Someone from Corporate needs to get involved as we do not trust the Atlanta legal and mgmt team. We would like to avoid a lawsuit. I've been in my new home for 3 1/2 months right now and have not been happy with the quality of workmanship and materials of the home both inside and out-things are began to fall apart and when I send home warranty request I have to send them twice before anyone answers and when they do they said my phone number was not working but yet they have my email address and I'm certain I put the correct phone on the warranty request.
