Batavia is a quiet village located a half-hour east of Cincinnati, the state's third-largest city. Encompassing about 1.5 square miles on land along the Appalachian Highway (Route 32), Batavia is surrounded by Batavia Township and is the county seat of Clermont County. In addition to State Route 21, which connects Cincinnati to Southern Ohio's rural communities, Route 132 and 222 pass through downtown Batavia. In addition to easy access to Cincinnati by car, there is daily bus service connecting Batavia and the city.

There are several golf courses near Batavia, including the Golf Club at Stonelick Hills and the Cedar Trace Golf Club. The 4,870-acre East Fork State Park, one of the largest state parks in Ohio, is situated on the East Fork of Little Miami River. It offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation, including swimming, boating, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, camping, and so much more. Access to the park is free.

First settled in 1797 and later incorporated in 1842, Batavia became an anchor in the 20th century for the region's industrial manufacturing sector. It was once home to a Ford Motor Company transmission plant, but the facility closed in 2009. Clermont Steel Fabricators, a manufacturer of roller coasters and other steel fabrication products, is still located in Batavia. Batavia is also the home of the Clermont College, a regional campus of the University of Cincinnati.

Its proximity to Cincinnati, along with its reputation for being a safe, quiet, family-friendly community with access to top-rated schools, has made Batavia popular among young families searching for newly built homes in the Cincinnati area. Anyone interested in the community will find a wealth of information on the village’s website. Currently, there are 54 residential communities in and around the village, with many new construction homes available. Other popular towns in the area include Union, Mason, and Hebron.
