New Construction Homes in Livermore

Located a scant 45 minutes San Francisco and the Bay Area, Livermore has all the relaxing qualities of a small town, but is in close proximity to one of California’s major metropolitan areas. Livermore is California’s oldest wine district, so it’s no surprise that the land is bursting with award-winning wineries. With plentiful jobs and a serene environment close to nature, Livermore has something for everyone.

Livermore may have gotten its start as a world-class wine center, but it has quickly branched out and tackled other industries. Competing with other cities in the Bay Area, Livermore is renowned in the scientific and technological communities for its research facilities and technological innovation. The United States Department of Energy has two laboratories in Livermore -- The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory as well as the National Ignition Facility. Also conducting business in Livermore is Sandia National Laboratories, a privately owned research facility.

Historic Livermore is in a state of revival, promoting its artists, western heritage and an affluent wine community. The downtown area is home to shopping, restaurants and entertainment. The downtown has a 10-screen theatre and a performing arts center that seats five hundred. The Livermore 13 Cinemas, Vine Cinema & Alehouse and Livermore Valley Performance Art Center are just three of the many attractions downtown Livermore has to offer.

It may come as a surprise that wineries are not the top employer in Livermore. In fact, Wente Vineyards, the top wine employer in the area, ranks number seven in the list of top Livermore employers. Government research and development, healthcare and education are the three biggest industries. Top employers in these local industries include the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, the Valley Care Health System, which shares a facility with the Lifestyle RX Fitness Center, and last, but certainly not least, is the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School district. All together, the three facilities employ 9,100 people, with the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory as the top employer.

The Livermore residential areas are made up of mostly single-family homes and townhouses. Houses in Livermore can cost anywhere from $560,000 to $1,400,000, and property types range from modular homes all the way up to luxury homes. Many of these homes climb as tall as three or four stories. Much of the design revolves around a modern/art deco structure style. Some of the bigger homes in Livermore can reach over 4,000 square feet. The majority of houses are located close to schools, parks, restaurants and other amenities.
