We had never built a house before. The salesperson was informative and offered advice and suggestions as we were making our decisions . We never felt pressured. You will only get out of this experience what you are willing to put into it. We tend to be people that plan far ahead. We visited several Pulte communities looking at how our preferred model was being built. We kept a photo library of the various selections and construction results from the houses we visited so that we could show them how we wanted certain things done. Some things we did ourselves (installed our own under cabinet lighting, installed our own cabinet hardware, bought our own refrigerator and kitchen faucet etc) because we either did not like the options or believed we could do it cheaper and/or better). We knew that we wanted to install some Smart items that work with Alexa and we never thought we had enough outlets in any of our rooms so we added about 18 outlets throughout the house. We lived about 20 minutes away from our new house and we constantly made trips to the new site to watch construction and note little things that needed attention which they happily mitigated or explained. The final walk through held no real surprises or disappointments. A freak wind storm hit the house about 2 weeks before closing. They had the missing shingles replaced well before the closing. Our house broke ground in October 31 and we moved in mid-March. Since the roof was installed in the dead of winter the shingles never had a chance to warm up and bind. We also just got our asphalt driveway and trees and shrubs put in today because you can't do that in the winter. We love our house and wake up each morning very happy with our decision. ... More

This has been my wife and i’s first time building a home. Pulte made the building process relatively painless. The building process in my opinion went very smoothly. Any questions or concerns were answered in a timely manner and Ben our building supervisor made of feel as thought he cared about our home as much as we did. Molly was also a very thorough sales consultant and was always available to answer any and all questions we had. She even would take the time on her days off to answer emails and texts. I thought she went above and beyond. When we finally moved into our new home. We had a few hiccups with our furnace and a few other items but they were handled as quick as possible. There was always great follow up calls/emails from Ben, molly and pulte customer service to make sure we were satisfied. While I can only attest to pulte’s building and selling process since we have only lived in our home for almost 2 months. This is the second time we've built and we had no idea what we were missing until we came to Pulte. The service that Dana and Larry provided was incredible. Between the two of them, we were constantly involved and informed about the process and what to expect. Our questions were always answered in a timely manner and we felt like we were a part of the process. There were no curve balls or unexpected issues. Could I have saved some money and had better materials if I purchased an older home and remodeled it? Yes. Did I want to live through that year long experience with 2 small kids? Absolutely not. You are overpaying for some of the convenience with any of the large builders and they need to make a profit with the materials - just know that going into the experience. Pulte built a beautiful home. We are overall happy with our purchase. There have been some issues in first month of move in, but so far pulte has tried to take care of issues in a timely manor. The overall experience was positive and we are very happy with the home. There were a few minor problems along the way but they were responsive and corrected those timely. I think the house was a bit overpriced in the neighborhood but it was a seller's market and we got top dollar for our old house as well so you cannot have it both ways (sell high, buy low). The cleaning prior to move in left a little to be desired. There were (and still are) pencil marks on the floor from the carpenters and we are still cleaning those as we find them. For the most part the build process went smooth. As with any build there were hiccups that were addressed in a timely manner. As of 07/01/2019 the build quality and craftsmanship still exceed most home builders in the Columbus market.

Our home in many respects is a prototype as it is the first one in a new communitee. Local building code issue, design centers lack of complete details on the project and other small details that need to be addressed will answer the questions related to our overall experience. I did not rate Pulte 5 stars for quality of workmanship and value for the price paid. While I understand I did not purchase the highest upgrade, I somehow believe from past buying experiences with another builder, that Pulte could still have done better for the price paid. As a big construction company with strong buying power, Pulte could have done better in terms of quality of carpet installed, the stove which is still a burner instead of flat top, and the lack of over-the-stove microwave, all of which are already reasonably priced these days. Medicine cabinets should have been installed in the two full bathrooms instead of just flat mirrors as a space saving strategy. As this unit I bought is already designed for a certain model, I should have been offered the chance to have a refrigerator and a washer/dryer installed at the time of buying so that those are already in the unit at time of closing. Of course, for an extra price for those appliances. This would have saved time on my end upon move-in. The employees are why I gave 5 stars for trustworthiness and responsive to issues. Just had a couple of calls made to get someone to come and worked on a couple of issues, but still in due time. Will I buy again from Pulte? Yes, overall, but I hope to see truly better value for the price paid even if I don't have to go for the highest upgrade. ... More

I really like the home but the communication from the field team completely stopped at closing. Driveway and yard are still a work in progress due to weather but I only know something is going to happen when someone shows up knocking at the door. We are generally satisfied. But Pulte as a company has communication issues with customers and within the organization as a whole. It is an absolute necessity for a new home buyer to stay on top of the entire home building process as much as possible and document everything (Special Requests, Exceptions, NSO's, etc.). Construction process was good up until closing. Day of closing there were still workers in the home. Landscaping had not begun. The walk prior to closing had the home still waiting to be cleaned. The closing with Pulte Mortgage went well. Came back to house to find workers had left trash and some items were incomplete. Landscaping was not completed until almost 60 days after closing. Field Manager was unwilling to address items from the 30 day list due to our schedules not lining up during the summer. He said that policy was the reason. I reminded him of the fact the home wasn't complete at closing and we waited on landscaping for two months. He decided that coming in and trying to restore the goodwill of the last 60 days was secondary to just shrugging his shoulders. If I had sold a customer a $500K house, I would make sure they were satisfied and willing to pass along the story to anyone who asked. Now when asked, I have to tell a potential homeowner to make sure they watch out to make sure everything is complete because you might come up short. Too many decisions made for the customer, not by the customer. Mirrored floor plans create windows facing neighbors windows. Electric switches & conjoining lightening fixtures aren’t conducive to clients lifestyle. No rear porch option available. Would appreciate concrete driveway option and finished interior of garage. Contractors were sloppy in finished work and Pulte doesn’t have an efficient means of checks and balances in place ensuring quality workmanship. It’s very disappointing given the money paid.

The mortgage and title process experience were great. I was able to get answers to questions in a timely matter. That is not true with customer service with their responsiveness to issues. Every call went to voicemail. I did not get call backs or in a timely manner. You will have some things like not having the air conditioning turned on, or the heat which is frustrating. It took 3 weeks after I moved in to get a trash can. This was the responsibility of the hoa and their hired management company. What were the homeowner of the condo to do in the interim? The move-in experience needs to be better handled. I received no welcome from the HOA and no way to get help when I truly needed it. ... More
